Old books are wonderful to dig into for more vintage inspiration.
I always plan to spend ten minutes and it is always turns out longer as I flick through the chapters back and forth! These are two of my absolute faves both from around the fifties and both covering all aspects needlecraft from embroidery to making nightwear and children's dressing up costumes. It is all there...
As you flick through the pages, they smell of Granny's book shelf and are steeped in history of days when we did make do and mend.

Here are a few pictures of my old books with their stitching diagrams for embroidery stitches (that could be lost in time) and of course how to make 'dainty lingerie' fifties stylie 'oh la la'!! They of course live with all my modern day books and magazines.
Do you have any old books you just love to use again and again?
Happy World Book Day 2014!,
